64 Zoo Lane is a British-French-German animated children's television series created by An Vrombaut. The series was produced by Millimages and Zoo Lane Productions in association with ZDF and ZDF Enterprises, The Itsy Bitsy Entertainment Company, Canal J, and La Cinquième. The series involves Lucy, a human girl who lives right next to the zoo, listens to one of her animal friends telling her a story for bedtime.

When 64 Zoo Lane came to the United States, an American English dub of the show was produced, with the British actors using American accents. It is unknown which studio recorded the dub, but it might have been The Sound Company or The Itsy Bitsy Entertainment Company while Lobster Films did the voice editing. Only the first two seasons were dubbed.

The dub first aired on Fox Family (currently known as Freeform) as part of the It's Itsy Bitsy Time! block. On January 3, 2005, Noggin aired the dub. When Noggin rebranded into the Nick Jr. channel on September 28, 2009, the dub aired reruns until December 28, 2009[1] or January 2, 2012.

On August 27, 2012, Sprout aired reruns of the dub until September 2, 2013. It would later be on Sprout's on demand until fall 2017 when Sprout rebranded to Universal Kids.

Findings[]

A promotional tape called "It's Itsy Bitsy Time!" contained the episode "The Story of the Jungle Clearing"

Six users recorded these following 64 Zoo Lane episodes:

  • CDCB2 recorded "The Story of the Monster in the Forest/The Story of the Jungle Clearing"
  • Gamerguy624 recorded "The Story of Herbert's Birthday Party/The Story of Ronald and Rosie"
  • Joobdoob recorded "The Story of Melanie the Moose/The Story of Molly & Nathalie"
  • Despite giving a baby too much screen time, April Lawler recorded the audio of "The Story of Melanie's Birthday Present"[2]
  • A user named Awesome 97 Lover has uploaded tickle-related scenes and they use the US dub. (Expect for Scenes 1 and 10, which uses the British version)
  • B. Huston recorded the title card for "The Story of Isabel the Flamingo" from Sprout on demand.

On September 12, 2005, Earthworks created 64 Zoo Lane merchandise,[3] which includes DVDs, but no one sold them on eBay.

In 2008, Porchlight Home Entertainment released three DVDs containing eight episodes in each DVD.

On July 12, 2021, a user named "Pizza Fries" joined YouTube, but no videos were uploaded until 2023. In that same year of June 11, he uploaded the full episode of "The Story of the Jungle Clearing"[4] from the Itsy Bitsy VHS tape. He also uploaded clips of the dub. He is also finding a way to upload the rest of the episodes to YouTube.

A British DVD titled "The Story of Boris the Bear" contained the episode "The Story of Reginald's Big Sleep" and it uses the US dub credits on accident, (Megg Nicol and Dian Perry were credited, but Anna Bentinck and Adrienne Posta were uncredited) but it uses the British soundtrack.

On Pinterest, there are two pictures from "The Story of Reginald's Big Sleep" and "The Story of Phoebe the Koala" uploaded by Sprout. If you click on the link from where the pictures came from, it will send you to Vimeo PRO, but you need to sign in to view the episodes. Let's hope some can do this and check if they use the US dub.
