A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving's title card
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is notable for having two different airings, both of which are currently lost. The special first originally aired in Canada on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) on October 6, 1973. The special then “officially” aired on CBS on November 20, 1973.
The original Canadian broadcast is currently lost, and while the American CBS broadcast surfaced online back in June 2020 it also is currently lost once again. The original promo for the special still exists on YouTube however.
CBS Commercials[]
The only commercials shown on the original CBS recording that surfaced in 2020 were for the special's sponsors, Dolly Madison and Coca Cola. The commercials took place during the following scenes:
- Place 1.) After the title card, an announcer will announce these sponsors then a Coca Cola commercial will play. Then the special will continue.
- Place 2.) After the scene of Snoopy fighting the lawn chair, 2 Dolly Madison commercials will play before the special continues.
- Place 3.) After Peppermint Patty announces Charlie Brown's Grandma invited all the guests to her home for Thanksgiving, a Coca Cola commercial plays before continuing.
- Place 4.) After the scene of Snoopy and Woodstock eating the turkey, an announcer announces the sponsors again and a Dolly Madison commercial plays, before the credits play above Snoopy and Woodstock having pumpkin pie.
