Алфавит (Alfavit, Alphabet) - Russian weekly educational newspaper; Released on Thursdays since October 1998. The founder and publisher of the newspaper is the «Pushkinskaya Ploshchad» (Пушкинская Площадь, Pushkin Square) Publishing House.
Main information[]
The duration of the commercial itself is 30 seconds, it is part of the commercial block before the beginning of the film «Vertical Limit», which was distributed on VHS tapes. There is a small chance that the commercial was broadcasted on TV at least once.
The newspaper was published on 32 color pages, with a circulation of 105,000 copies (2002). It was distributed in 80 large cities of Russia, as well as in Israel (free distribution on domestic and international Aeroflot lines).
The newspaper did not have a traditional rubricator. A letter of the Russian alphabet (from А on the first page to Я on the last page) was placed in the title of the page or spread, and the headings of all materials on this page began with this letter. The main direction of the «Alphabet» newspaper is entertaining and informative reading for inquisitive people. The newspaper was aimed at a wide range of middle-aged readers. Its age audience is people from 30 to 60 years old. A popular form of dissemination of materials assimilates the proposed topics with different levels of education. The articles were addressed to events that relate to high, encyclopedic knowledge.
«Alphabet» differs from other Russian weeklies of that time by the almost complete absence of topics related to politics. The editors paid much attention to articles about culture and art, including cinema and theater, little-known facts of history, news of science and technology. Each issue published a TV program, at least three crossword puzzles, contests for readers. The weekly radio program «Alphabet», a joint project of the newspaper and «Radio Russia», contributed to the growth of the publication's popularity.
