As quite a few of you know, the ITV's popular variety show Britain's Got Talent was first trialed out in September 2005 where Paul O'Grady was the presenter; it was going to be called "Paul O'Grady's Got Talent". The judges were Piers Morgan, Fern Britton & Simon Cowell; Cheryl (the most famous Girls Aloud member) was going to be a judge, but Fern was pipped in last minute.

The pilot was unaired all because of Paul O'Grady's defence of moving to Channel 4, thus meaning Simon launched America's Got Talent in 2006 first before the UK. BGT eventually first aired on ITV1 on 9th June 2007 where Amanda Holden joined Simon & Piers on the judging panel (she still does today), rather than Fern and Geordie presenting duo Ant & Dec were chosen as hosts (they still do today). It remains one of ITV's major shows; I think it was a replacement for the ill-judged (Celebrity) Love Island which was cancelled a year prior, although returned in 2015.

Some unseen clips/images of the untelevised pilot was seen on ITV1's The Talent Show Story in 2012, narrated by the late Victoria Wood. Many people didn't realise that there was a pre-pilot of the Syco talent contest. A couple of images are present on the internet too.
