In a 2001 episode of the original UK version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, Charles Ingram, who was a former British Army major, went on Millionaire. His wife, Diana, previously appeared on the show prior to Charles' appearance. She won £32,000 after failing at the £64,000 question. The episode where Charles was on was taped on September 9-10, 2001. However, he was accused of cheating because he was listening to some unusual coughs from his wife, Diana, and an accomplice, Tecwen Whittock. Ingram did make it all the way to the £1,000,000 question and got it right, but shortly after, the million dollar payout was suspended. Ingram claimed that he was innocent and did not cheat, but he and his wife, along with Whittock, were given a two year prison sentence on April 7, 2003. The show stopped production several times during that episode. ITV and Celador Productions decided not to air the episode until April 21, 2003. Also, ITV aired a miniseries documentary called Quiz where Ingram's events on Millionaire were re-enacted. It lasted from April 13-15, 2020. The documentary was also aired on AMC in the United States. The episode was also aired on HRT2, a Croatian channel, in English with Croatian subtitles.
