Club MTV is an American music dance TV series. It was produced by Paramount Media Networks and premiered on MTV until it cancelled for five years. British VJ Downtown Julie Brown hosted the series for the entire series' run (except for the pilot, which was hosted by Kevin Seal). It ran for five seasons, from August 31, 1987 to June 26, 1992 with a total of 1245 episodes. It was succeeded by a similar show, The Grind.
Format[]
The program was filmed live in a New York dance club called "The Palladium". Teens and young adults would dance to diverse forms of dance music such as dance-pop, freestyle, house, and hip-hop. They also were the audience who watched guest performers promote their new or latest singles and albums. It also incorporated music videos as the camera would cut back and forth between shots of scenes from the videos and the dancers.
Status[]
On YouTube, some of the videos are available as full episodes on the Club MTV Fan Page channel whereas others are either partial episodes or clips. To date, there are either 112 episodes and 10 partial episodes on there or there are 113 episodes and 9 partial episodes. It is uncertain due to one video being hidden on the playlist. On Internet Archive, there are 37 full episodes and a few partial episodes. There are many other episodes that are still missing and have yet to be recovered.
