Diabolik is a 1999 Italian-French-Canadian-Japanese-American action, adventure, superhero, police drama, animated TV series. It is based on the Italian comics by Anggela and Luciana Giusanni of the same title. Co-production was amongst Saban Entertainment, Saban International Paris, Saban Video, Mediaset, and M6 Metropole Television. It ran for a single, 40-episode season. Despite the U.S. having involvement in co-producing it, it never received airings.

Plot[]

A master thief known as Diabolik is well-versed in scientific fields. A true master-of-disguise, he has a collection of masks which he wears to dupe his opponents. He grew up as an orphan and was discovered by someone known as King, who adopted him as a baby after he was left deserted and the former was taught the tricks-of-the-criminal-trade due to him being around a criminal organization called the Brotherhood, which has a secret hideaway on an island. King's biological son, Dane, wasn't as welcoming nor accepting of Diabolik as his brother. Years later, an envious Dane decided to have Diabolik framed for allegedly murdering a man (who happened to be the father of Diabolik's future co-hort, Eva Kant) and was sentenced to prison under false pretenses. Half a decade later, following King's death, Dane took over as the Brotherhood's leader and made plans to rescue his brother supposedly. However, that turned out just to be a ruse for his real intention of killing him. Diabolik survived the assassination attempt and vowed to eradicate Brotherhood, and Dane. Diabolik and Eva team up with each other to take down both of them, making life difficult for Dane and the organization while being pursued by Inspector Ginko.

Status[]
