Doogal was a 2006 animated film produced by the Weinstein Company (originally Miramax Films and Disney) that was edited and re-dubbed from the 2005 French-British animated film known as The Magic Roundabout based on the stop-motion series of the same name and was considered as one of the worst animated ever made and it was originally going to be written by Butch Hartman (creator of The Fairly Odd Parents, T.U.F.F. Puppy, Bunsen is a Beast and Danny Phantom) but Butch Hartman revealed in a 2017 interview on his YouTube Channel during the Weinstein scandal and the MeToo and Time's Up movement that most of his actual script was discarded and was actually rewritten without his consent by producer Harvey Weinstein and later disowned the movie due to its popular culture references and flatulence jokes after it was revealed during the Weinstein scandal and the MeToo and Time's Up movement that most of his actual script was actually discarded and rewritten without his consent by producer Harvey Weinstein only 3% of his material made it into the final cut.
The film was conceived when Harvey Weinstein acquired the US distribution rights to The Magic Roundabout in October 17, 2004 one year before he and his brother Bob Weinstein left Disney and Miramax and set up their own company The Weinstein Company. Harvey approached The Fairly Oddparents and Danny Phantom creator Butch Hartman to re-work the film in November 2005 after the Weinsteins left Disney and Miramax. writer Butch Hartman revealed in an 2017 interview on his podcast Speech Bubble and during the Weinstein scandal and the MeToo and Time's Up movement that the film was originally supposed to include a live-action frame story similar to The Princess Bride but it was scrapped due to budget costs and was replaced with narration from Judi Dench. Butch was then having to re-write the whole film script line per line with some changes to the dialogue to make it more appealing to American audiences. His original script was also meant to stay in sync with the animation, unlike the final version. Much of his script was even recorded by the actors (Daniel Tay, Chevy Chase, Jimmy Fallon, Kylie Minogue (who reprised her role from the original version but with a American accent), Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Hader, Judi Dench, John Krasinski, William H. Macy, Kevin Smith and Jon Stewart) who star in the film, with most of them being directed by Hartman himself. Hartman even revealed that the original U.S. movie poster had his name and his production company Billionfold Inc. on it, until they were removed in later posters in copyright favor of both Pathé and Action Synthese's credits. When the film was released, much of Hartman's original material was re-written and re-recorded without his consent by producer Harvey Weinstein and his distribution and production company with a screenplay by Hoodwinked! co-director Cory Edwards. At least 3% of his material ever made it into the final version. The final film has an overabundance of pop culture references and flatulence jokes, neither of which were presumably present in Hartman's script. The film was received very poorly by critics and has been regarded as one of the worst animated films ever made.
