Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods is a 2013 Japanese animated film based on the hit anime series Dragon Ball Z and the 18th film in the franchise. The plot involves Lord Beerus, the God of Destruction, threatening to destroy planet Earth, and with Goku transforming into a Super Saiyan God for the first time in order to destroy him.
It was thought that a censored version of the movie aired on a kids' network at some point (whether it was Nicktoons or Cartoon Network in the United States, or YTV in Canada, or neither of them). In that version, the amount of violence depicted in the movie was heavily reduced, any characters that were depicted drunk were cut, and the scene with Beerus slapping Bulma ended up being removed as well (so it seemed that Vegeta shouted "THAT'S MY BULMA!!!" just so it looked like Beerus was attempting to hurt Bulma instead).
The scene that was believed to be heavily altered the most was the one where Mai attempted to shoot the guests to obtain the Dragon Balls, and where Dende heals Videl's leg. Here, the part where Mai repeatedly shoots the Great Saiyaman (Gohan) was slightly sped up to not show the bullets clearly (though it ended up causing a more epileptic scene), Gohan's brief line, "Those were real bullets!" being cut, and the blood stain on Videl's shot leg being digitally removed (as well as altering her line, "Ow! I'm shot!" to "Ow! I'm hit!").
It's unclear if the censored version exists as most available prints just use the standard and Director's Cut version, although it was thought that got lost due to a supposed negative reception over the changes that were made, or realizing that the movie was deemed too unsuitable for children to watch anyway, even in its altered version. Whatever the reason, that version has yet to be confirmed to indeed exist, unless reconstructions could be made to see how it would have gone.
