Billy Bam Bam (found pilot collection)

Billy Bam Bam is a 2012 animated show made by BabyTV. The show centers on sister Billy (in pink) and brother Bam Bam (in blue) using their shared playroom and thinking up new ways to have fun. The series originally ran for two seasons on BabyTV, and still airs in reruns as of November 1, 2023.

Background

During unknown dates between 2009 and 2011, five six-minute-long pilots were made, presumably to pitch the show "Billy Bam Bam" to networks. The show was ultimately picked up by BabyTV, with production starting in 2011 and being halted in 2012, after the first season was shown on the network. A second season was later greenlit and shown on the network, but none of the pilots were shown on the air. As of November 1, 2023, the series still airs in reruns, although the pilots have never been shown on the network.

Finding the Pilots

On May 20, 2013, the English language YouTube channel of BabyTV uploaded the original pilot, "Choo Choo Train," in full and in high quality. Despite the 16 million views on the original video, the pilot was considered lost and unconfirmed until October 20, 2023, when a user by the name of TheOriginalJayPopsOff (more commonly known as QuakeDaCruiser) rediscovered the pilot in its original form. A second, previously unknown pilot, "Making Music with Cymbals," was also discovered in the same search. On October 22nd, three more pilots not available on YouTube were discovered on the Sky.com website by the same user, in full and in HD, much like their YouTube counterparts. As of November 1, 2023, all 5 pilots are found, available in full (with a Sky Go membership unless otherwise noted) and in high quality.

Pilot Synopses

1. Train (listed as "Choo Choo Train" on BabyTV's YouTube page): Billy and Bam Bam enjoy eating strawberries and cream. Join them as they have fun playing a game with paper towels and inventing their own song!
2. Cymbals (listed as "Making Music with Cymbals" on BabyTV's YouTube page): Billy and Bam Bam look for spoons to eat their porridge. Join them as they have fun using pan lids as cymbals, singing and dancing in their band.
3. Oranges: Billy and Bam Bam have fun picking oranges from the tree and catching them in a bowl.
4. Doll House: Join Billy and Bam Bam as they have fun playing with the little doll house and doll family they received as a present.
5. Flying Kites: Billy and Bam Bam have fun playing with their kites. When the kites get stuck, they are left with the strings and find imaginative ways to play!

1. Both Billy and Bam Bam have more metallic touches in their fur.
2. There is a smaller difference in height compared to the rest of the show.
3. Although Billy speaks a lot more than Bam Bam even in the pilots, Bam Bam is shown to be more engaged and talkative in the pilots.
4. The skin colors are slightly changed, but this could be a result of shaders.
5. The pilots are much rougher than the main series in terms of details.
6. Both voice actors are different in the pilots as opposed to the show.
