In 1979, following the breakup of his band Television, singer-songwriter-guitarist Tom Verlaine released his debut solo album on Elektra Records. After the label rejected his original mix of the LP, Bob Clearmountain made his own mix, and this was the version used on its commercial release. In 2002, Collectors' Choice Music reissued the album on CD for the first time in North America. Initially available by mail-order only, this version accidentally contained the Verlaine mix of the album; when it eventually earned a wider release, it was replaced with the Clearmountain mix. Today, the original version of the CD commands higher prices on the resale market than the corrected one.[1]
