Tales of the Okefenokee was the largest dark ride in Six Flags Over Georgia in 1967. It was very primitive, and was made on a very low budget. About 70% of the ride is lost to time unlike it’s later counterpart. It was made by some of the same creatives who worked on “The cave ride” At Six Flags Over Texas. The biggest similarity between them both is Gene Patrick was involved. Although he had hopes for the ride, it ended up getting tons of complaints, enough to stop them from keeping it around. But Before we go further we need to know the contents, scenes, characters, and The reason why this ride was removed so quickly.
The ride started off with a queue, which was supposed to be a Plantation house, but due to budget constraints it was put inside a white fence house. Cutouts of all the characters hung from the walls. From left to right there was, Mr. Bear, Mr. Fox, Mr. Rabbit, and a bundle of his children. And a large sign which read “TALES OF THE OKEFENOKEE” while on the other side was a Mr. Bear cutout holding a sign saying “This way to Attraction entrance”
