It's a Bird... It's a Plane... It's Superman! is a 1966 Broadway musical based on the Superman comic series. It starred Bob Holiday as Clark Kent and Superman, with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Lee Adams. Although it was a critical success, receiving three Tony Award nominations, it was a commercial failure, and it closed after 129 performances.

In 1975, a TV version aired once on ABC as a special. This version featured many significant cuts from the original play, a new cast, and the music was rescored to sound more like the popular music of the time. Critics panned the special, and viewers complained that it lacked the energy of the original Broadway musical.

For years, this special was lost, as it was aired only once back when VCRs were expensive and only then gaining popularity. However, a copy was found and uploaded to YouTube in September 2013.[1]

Internet reviewer Cinema Snob made a review of the musical in 2011, criticizing the poor quality of the special. The review itself can be found on the Cinema Snob website.
