Lost Microsoft Agent Characters (1996-2008)

Microsoft Agent is a now discontinued technology originally developed by Microsoft in 1997. It employs animated characters, text-to-speech engines and speech recognition software to enhance interactions with computer users. However, due to its unpopularity with the public, it was ultimately discontinued after the release of Windows 7 in 2009.

Despite this, the Microsoft Agent technology still had a decently sized community between the late 90s and early-to-mid 2000s, with websites like the Agentry and The Microsoft Agent Web Ring being some of the biggest websites dedicated to this software. While a lot of its history has been saved, many characters (and software) have been lost to time due to lack of proper archives, being paywalled or just their general obscurity.
