In an interview in the fall of 2014 with Vice Sports, NFL Blitz was originally more violent than the final game. It featured heavy blood usage, more time to perform late hits, profanity (although bleeped out), and several violent tackling animations, including a neck breaking tackle & a decapitating tackle. The prototype garnered extremely negative reactions from NFL reps. Midway even threatened to withdraw their NFL license. Ultimately, the game was purged of most of the violent tackles & blood.
