Nuestro Barrio (Spanish for "Our Neighborhood") is a 2005 or 2006 American, telenovela, television series. It is notable for being the very first, Spanish-language series to air on various, American network affiliates. It was produced by Cafe con Leche. Not to be confused with the 1965 Mexican, telenovela, television series of the same title. There is bilingual dialogue, spoken in Spanish and English.
Plot[]
A nemesis of Manuel named Salvador, who owns a local nightclub, keeps Manuel's past secretive. But if it's revealed, it could tarnish his family and reputation. Dr. Maria Hayden attempts to rebuild her life and start anew after her North American Anglo husband, Frank, who's a doctor as well, leaves her for a blonde nurse. Maria's new love interest is Manuel and once Frank sees her getting on well with Manuel's son, Ramon, he has second thoughts about his infidelity. Another couple, Miguel and Esperanza Sanchez, want the American dream to be the best thing for their four kids, but it hasn't quite come to fruition. Not only due to financial and health problems hindering them, but their adolescent daughter, Christina, struggles with acculturation and the family attempts to sort out that. The eldest daughter, Gabriela, helps to pay the bills with her employment at the Latin Grill. She has dreams of attending college.
