Onegai! Samian-don is a 1985 Japanese, adventure, fantasy, family, children's anime television series. It is based on English author Edith Nesbit's 1902 novel, Five Children and It. Co-production was amongst NHK, Telecom Animation Film, and TMS Entertainment. It ran for one season with a total of 78 episodes. There is also a movie version of this released in 1989, but it's uncertain whether that is an all original movie or just a compilation of episodes from this with wraparounds.
Plot[]
One fateful day, in mid-1980s England, three siblings known as the Turners named Robert, Cyril, and Jane, along with their neighbor/friend, Anne Hopkins, meet a small, yellow, hamster-like genie wearing a blue wizard's hat known as the Psammead, Samia Don. Each episode, he grants the kids a wish that lasts for only a day as it ends by sundown. Throughout the series, the wishes the kids make place them into various, extraordinary, magical situations and by the end, they become messy. A notable difference from the novel is that in the adaptation, the group of kids consists of four rather than five.
Status[]
The first 39 episodes are available to watch on the Hi Anime site without English subtitles. This same amount of episodes are also available in Spanish on Youtube. Hopefully, in addition to when the remainder of the series is found, English subtitles will also be added to the whole series.
