PJ Masks is a French-British CGI animated children's show based on "Les Pyjamasques" by French author Romuald Racioppo. The series debuted in 2015, however, before that, there was a test pilot episode around 2013.
The pilot was used for screening purposes by development team and invited selected parents and children to watch the show's pilot during development of the television series. The pilot was met with a response from parents wanting the series to have "superheroes custom-made for preschoolers", allowing the show to be retooled to expand its focus on contemporary superhero culture.
- The designs for the characters in the pilot resemble their appearances in the original French books that the show was based on, Pyjamasques far more than in the final show.
