Princesse Shèhèrazade title screen pic

Princess Sheherazade (French title spelled as Princesse Shèhèrazade) is a 1996 French, adventure, fantasy, comedy, family, children's animated television series. It was created by Marie-France Brière. Co-production was amongst France 2, Carrere Group D.A., Anabase Production, Tèlè-Müchen, and MFB Production with the participation of Centre National de la Cinèmatographie. The English dub was produced by Nelvana. It ran for two seasons and 52 episodes. The English version never aired in the U.S., but certain episodes were released straight-to-video.

Plot[]

This series comprises of loose adaptations of the Middle Eastern folk tales, One Thousand and One Nights. On one peculiar, starry night, a princess named Sheherazade finds and meets a miniaturized jinn named Till, who is trapped in a glass prism. Once Till is freed, the two befriend each other and go on expeditions together, inspired by the various oriental stories and legends.

Status[]

So far, only the first two episodes are available in English on Youtube. But since the English dub had a video release, it means that only select episodes were brought to home video. It's uncertain how many of them were put out on home video in the U.S. and that also means the remainder of the episodes may or may not had been dubbed into English. Whether more episodes are available in English and will be uploaded online or not in the future remains to be seen.
