SM:tv Live (an abbreviation of Saturday Morning Television Live), also stylised as SMTV Live and in early promotional material SMTV://live, was a British Saturday morning children's magazine show, first broadcast on ITV from between 29th August 1998 and last broadcast on 27th December 2003. It was part of ITV's CITV output and was produced by Blaze Television for ITV. Co-produced by LWT, 1998.

Description[]

The title sequence was the program's intro which follows the journey of a series of cartoon characters, each of them rushing across a real-life home to be the first to turn on a television and, subsequently, SM:tv Live. The program's comic mascots were created by former Gorillaz/Tank Girl artist, Jamie Hewlett who created for the Saturday morning show, SM:tv Live. The SM:tv Live introduction's lost characters stock artworks and promotional artworks got lost after the official CITV websites were closed in about 2003 and still at least exist on some videos on YouTube, some ITV Digital menus (including Red Button Interactivity menu), some CITV merchandises, some CITV magazines, some SM:tv Live DVD menus, HIT Entertainment, CITV, UK various social media, some episodes of CD:UK and Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, and the Channel 5 television film, Strutter in 2006, respectively.

The programme's introduction was produced and directed by Bill Wilson at Atom Pictures using bespoke illustrations by Jamie Hewlett and animation by Andy Wyatt, Teddy Hall and Brian Larkin for The Animation People, Jerry Hibbert and Graham Ralph for Silver Fox Films and Mark Taylor, Phil Parker, Jane Davies, Dave Cropley, Dylan Shipley and Simon Bradbury for A Productions Ltd.

  • From 29th August 1998 to 28th August 1999, the characters also appeared on some episodes of CD:UK as well as the show and later, they occasionally appeared on some episodes of Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway and the Channel 5 television film, Strutter in 2006, respectively.
