Between early 1987 and late 1988, singer Sheila E. recorded her third studio album which was scheduled for release in 1989, but the project was abandoned after she left Paisley Park Records in early 1989.

Most of the tracks from the album remain unreleased, except for the track "Scarlet Pussy" which Prince later recorded and was included as the b-side of the song "I Wish U Heaven."

Two other songs from the album were used for later projects.

In mid-September of 1993, the track "Latino Barbie Doll" was given to singer Mayte during the initial recording sessions for her solo album, but it never made the final tracklisting on the album.

During "Prince: A Celebration" in June of 2000, the computer screens at Paisley Park Studios offered names of a selection of tracks which users could vote on for inclusion on "Crystal Ball Volume II". The song "3 Nigs Watchin' A Kung Fu Movie" was included on the list and chosen by fans, but the project was ultimately abandoned.
