During the early 2000s operating in Taiwan and China there was a video game publisher known as Sintax Technology Ltd. This company published video games for the Nintendo Gameboy Color. These games were published in a variety of regions such as: China, Taiwan, Thailand, Portugal, Germany, and most likely a few others. These games would often borrow copyrighted materials from other sources, however they appear to have been built mostly from the ground up. During this time Sintax operated a website that would host demos for some of their games. As of today only one demo is known to be widely available in ROM collections, this being the demo for 神鬼帝國の惡魔城, a fully functional metroidvania game based on the Castlevania series. This demo appears to have been included on CDs under the name 恶魔城 DX for emulation themed magazines, however it is unknown if Sintax authorized this[1]. The remainder of their demos appear to be unaccounted for, though a small portion of them are named on an archived page of Sintax's website[2]. Allegedly some of these demos were saved in private ROM collections. Games from these collections sometimes appear on aftermarket counterfeit cartridges. One of these ROM collections was owned by a group known as SkyLeague, who would sell ROMs for rare video games while they operated[3].
