Super Why! is an American-Canadian CGI preschooler's program which is about Whyatt and the other Super Readers jumping into books to solve their everyday problems.
It had a French dub which aired on Gulli and TiJi before it was pulled off air. Most of the episodes are currently lost, but only three episodes are available in the Gulli website: https://www.gulli.fr/Chaine-TV/Dessins-animes/Super-Tom/Episodes/La-Belle-et-la-Bete As of June 2020, the French dub is now streaming on Netflix. Changes[]
There are some minor alterations done to the French dub:
- The show is renamed to Super Tom et les Motamots (Super Tom and the Motamots).
- The main characters are renamed:
- Whyatt → Tom
- Red → Cerise
- Pig → Bidule
- Also, the Super Readers' superhero identities are renamed:
- Super Why → Super Tom
- Wonder Red → Rouge Merveille
- Alpha Pig → Alpha Bidule
- Princess Presto → Princesse Typo
- The Why Flyers are renamed to the "Motamobiles" (Word-for-Mobiles).
- The Super Duper Computer is renamed to the "Super Mega Ordinate" (Super Mega Computer).
- The Why-Writer is renamed to the "Super Stylo" (Super Pen).
- The Super Readers mostly spoke French, and partially in the English language.
- The audience will now exclaim "Super lettres" (Super Letters) whenever the super letters show up (with their trademark sound effect heard in the background).
- In the end of each episode, Super Why's catchphrase "Hip hip Horray, the Super Readers saved the day!" is changed to "Hip hip hurrah, Les Motamots trouvé la solution!" (Hip hip hurrah, The Motamots found the solution!).
- Storybook Village is changed to the "Pays des Contes" (The Land of Tales).
- The Super Readers are renamed to "Les Motamots" (The Motamots).
