TUGS is a British children's television series produced in 1988. It was created by the then producers of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, Robert D. Cardona and David Mitton. The series deals with the adventures of two anthropomorphized tugboat fleets, the Star Fleet and the Z-Stacks, who compete against each other in the fictional Bigg City Port. When broadcast on ITV in 1989, each episode was cut down to 15 minutes for timeslot issues. Only 4 episodes ("Sunshine", "Pirate", "Munitions" and "Regatta") were ever released to the public on VHS in their original 20 minute length by Castle Vision. The 20 minute versions of the other 9 never saw the light of day.
