The Ranch (also known as Le Ranch in France and Lena's Ranch in Germany) is a 2012, French-German, equestrian adventure, animated television series. It was created by Sofa. Co-production was amongst Tele Images Productions/Tele Images Kids, De Agostini Editore, ARD and Equidia (which co-produced), TF1 and TeleTOON+ (which participated), HR, and KidsMe S.r.l. It ran for a couple seasons and 52 episodes. It is spun off from the American equestrian adventure cartoon, Horseland.

Plot[]

A girl named Lena and her friends enjoy spending part of their free time horseback riding. One day, her mare, Zaboo, collapses and has a fatal heart attack. Lena becomes so depressed over the tragedy that she loses her zest for horseback riding, vowing never to ride a horse again. That all changes one month later when, one stormy night, she finds a stallion that's about to be brought into a slaughterhouse and Lena decides to rescue him. The stallion becomes the new horse Lena owns and she names him Mistrial. Throughout the series, after Lena and her friends spruce up her granddad's ranch, they do all they can to take in other horses and animals, helping any that are in need.

Status[]

Most of this series was never dubbed into English for some inexplicable reason, except for the pilot episode, which is available on Youtube without the intro and outro. The dub was provided by Zodiak Kids. There is also a clip from the pilot featuring the voice work by the actress who voiced Lena in English. It is uncertain if the rest of the series will ever get more of the English dub and maybe someone involved in the American version of this will come out explaining what happened, and why the other episodes weren't dubbed in English.

UPDATE: The first two episodes are on Youtube. According to the Dubbing Database, the dub was at one point on Tubi TV, but has long since deleted.

UPDATE 2: Sharon Mann has a dubbing sample of Lena on Youtube.
