This Is Turtle Island is a Canadian children's tv show about the environment and First Nations culture hosted by Andy and Chuck Clement. The show debuted in 2008, airing on TVO Kids for an unknown number of years (it has not been confirmed to have aired on any other channels). Having no DVD release, it was presumably lost and unavailable to the public until it resurfaced on the streaming service APTN Lumi. The show consists of one season, made up of 13 episodes.
The show appears to have had an associated website, thisisturtleisland.ca, which is now defunct.
Episode structure[]
Each episode of This Is Turtle Island starts with Andy and Chuck in a location relevant to the topic of the episode. Episodes typically feature interviews with experts in certain scientific fields, along with "Tales from Turtle Island", an animated segment retelling a First Nations legend, and a "Creature Feature" highlighting a specific animal. Save for the Tales from Turtle Island segments, Andy and Chuck narrate the entire show, with the camera turning back to them in between segments.
Hosts[]
The hosts of the show, André "Andy" Clément and Charles "Chuck" Clément, are brothers, and also founders of the show's production company, Media Rendezvous. Hailing from Manitoba, the brothers are fluent in French, although unlike some of their later shows, This Is Turtle Island is in English.
On the show, Chuck typically wears a yellow shirt, while Andy wears red.
