Tiana was the Unreleased spin-off series to the 2009 Disney movie "The Princess and the Frog". The Tiana series was Originally going to release in 2024. The Production of the series was announced in December 2020 and that it would be releasing on Disney+.[1] Tiana was described as a musical comedy starring the original film’s beloved restaurateur. Anika Noni Rose (Power) will once again provide the voice of the series’ titular character Tiana as she “sets off for a grand new adventure as the newly crowned Princess of Maldonia.”
In March 2025, it was announced that the project was shelved. The Hollywood Reporter noted; "Sources close to the streaming series say that despite best efforts, including several changes to the creative team, Tiana ultimately could not get to where it needed to be given production costs."[2] However, according to a source at Disney, lead writer and director Joyce Sherri will continue with the project, which is now being morphed into a special 22-minute short.[3]
